I am a second year medical student with an interest in serving underserved populations. I was born and raised in San Diego and graduated from UCSD with a degree in Human Biology. Shortly after graduating I discovered my interest in medicine while working in various jobs. For a while I worked as a dental assistant, then as a medical assistant, and then as a lab assistant. I enjoyed all of these jobs, however, medicine was something that interested me above all my jobs and I am grateful to say I am now a student of Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science. In conjunction with community outreach through LMSA, I am also working with UCLA students on a community outreach program that brings preventative healthcare discussions to high schools around Los Angeles County. The goal of the project is to give high school students some useful knowledge that they can use early in life to make better decisions regarding their health. This community outreach project also strives to spark an interest in medicine or at least make high school biology more tangible to real life applications.
