Karen Martinez is from Los Angeles, California and attended UCLA for her undergraduate studies, where she majored in Physiological Science and minored in Accounting. Karen has a passion to work with underserved communities and hopes to be a provider to the minority populations of Los Angeles. Her family background has molded her interests and commitment to community health. Karen first honed her interests in medicine through her expansive volunteer and leadership work with Chicanos/Latinos for Community Medicine at UCLA. After graduating from UCLA, she worked as an in-home tutor for minority students in the Compton/Lynwood communities and formerly served as co-director of LMSA?s undergraduate mentorship; thus, showing her passion and dedication to helping advance the pipeline of young minority students. She is currently a third year in the UCLA Geffen program and plans to pursue a career in Family Medicine.
