Monica El-Masry was born in Queens, New York and grew up in Los Angeles. She graduated in 2005 from UCLA with a Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology. She has served as a tutor, mentor, and counselor to many UCLA undergraduate students and because of her strong dedication and service to UCLA and the community she received the distinguished UCLA Chancellor's Service Award. Monica enjoys traveling, watching movies, volunteering at free clinics, and spending time with family and friends. Through her leadership in the health care symposium, she hopes to encourage other students to take an active role in shaping medicine in the 21rst century. In the future, she hopes to get involved in international medical missions and pursue a career in general and vascular surgery and medical education.v
