Ryan Tiu is a first-year medical student at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Raised in the Seattle area, she completed her B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology with an emphasis in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UC Berkeley. As an undergraduate, Ryan was involved in researching signal transduction mechanisms in cell growth, division, and responses to external stimuli, as well as clinical research in otolaryngology at the University of Washington. She was also involved in serving and advocating for the unhoused population in Berkeley and worked in the Center for Education and Development at the Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System. These experiences contributed to her interest in community health and well-being, education, and advocating for vulnerable populations. At DGSOM, she volunteers with the Mobile Clinic Project and co-facilitates the DGSOMeditation group.
