Hello! My name is Sara Peña and I was born in San Salvador, El Salvador. My family immigrated to the United States in 2003 and we've been living in Southern California since then! During my undergrad at UCLA, I majored in Human Biology and Society, focusing on various aspects of the social determinants of health and discovering my passion for community health. In LMSA, I am one of the CDU Medical Student Representatives. In addition to LMSA, I am involved in the DGSOM Medical Student Council as a Professionalism Council and Committee on Learning Environment Oversight Student Representative. I am also an anatomy tutor for the MS1 class. I have an interest in palliative care, which I am exploring through research and co-directing the Palliative Care and Hospice Interest Group. In my free time, I love to read sci-fi books, watch movies, and spend time hiking outdoors!
